2008 Season Hunt Summary

The 2008 bear season was a good one, considering the abundance of natural food in the woods this year.

The first week Brian and Dan missed on the first day and John hit one low. Bob, Gary and Jay scored on Tuesday. Lyle shot his 2nd bear in a row. John Lanza continued his winning streek with a 210 lb. boar. Jerry shot his 1st bear this year. Don and Ed also scored on Thursday. Our hunters saw 25, killed 8, missed 2 and lost 1.

The second week Dan Ross was back again this year and saw a nice bear but could not get a shot and missed one later in the week. John came back with his daughter Kayla who got a shot at one but we couldn’t find it. Don shot his 1st bear. Rusty had 3 around him one night, but no shot with his bow. Scott had a bear play peek-a-boo with him for a few nights, but could not get a good shot at him. Ron and Brian from Traditional Archers of New Jersey both went home with bears. Bill Jr. saw a few small ones and opted to let them go. Our hunters saw 23, killed 3, missed1 and lost 1. The third week Mark and Tom were back for their hound hunt. Mark got himself another beauty of 340 lbs. Tom ran a big bear all day on the last day of his hunt, but just couldn’t catch up.

Later Casey shot it and was a 405 lb boar. Greg and Cecil; from Virginia went home with bears. Doug chased bears and dogs around again. Todd saw one at dark. Jim Morgan from New York had two come in one night while in a ground blind with his bow, but no shot. Tennessee Tom came up with his long bow and bounced an arrow off the bear’s shoulder. Our hunters saw 9, killed 4 and lost 1.

The fourth week Bill, Roy, Art and Brian (The P.A. Boys) finally arrived after a van (crunch) delay. They didn’t score but were a blast to have in camp. Bill, Dan, Sam, and Ben from Virginia were also in camp. Bill missed one on a hound hunt. Ben saw bears off the stand, but too dark to shoot. John Tosco was back and killed one on Saturday off his stand, Our hunters saw 5, killed 1, and missed 1.

See you in camp this fall!
Frank
